Everyone should have access to the educational opportunities they deserve. It’s the key to success for future leaders. That’s why LAPFCU believes strongly in investing in our community’s young people through our Youth Scholarship Programs.
We offer two Youth Scholarship Programs:
- TRADITIONAL SCHOLARSHIP: LAPFCU youth members
- LAW ENFORCEMENT SCHOLARSHIP: Cadets, Explorers, or equivalent/LAPFCU youth members
Awards for EACH program:
- One Grand Prize: $6,000
- Up to eight Excellent Achievement Awards: $4,500
Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of:
- Academic performance
- Extracurricular activities
- Scholastic awards and achievements
- Community involvement
- Written essay response
Law Enforcement Career Scholarship Program
Exclusively for eligible youth in law enforcement programs (Cadets, Explorers, etc.), so we can help them work toward a possible career in law enforcement. If you are a current LAPFCU member and are enrolled in or recently graduated from a law enforcement youth program, you must:

Please note, you are not eligible if you or your immediate family member is a previous LAPFCU scholarship winner.

*Qualification Requirements: Scholarship Applicant must be an LAPFCU member at time of application submission. No applications will be accepted until membership is verified. Cannot enter if you or an immediate family member is a previous LAPFCU scholarship winner. Applicant must be between 17 and 22 years old and in good standing with LAPFCU. Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited university, college, junior college, technical program, or trade school for fall 2023. If you’re applying for the law enforcement scholarship program, in addition to the above requirements, you must also be an active member or a 2022 graduate of a youth law enforcement program, such as Cadets, Explorers, POPP, ACOP, or equivalent. You can only apply to one LAPFCU scholarship program. Scholarships will be awarded based upon combination of GPA, extracurricular activities, scholastic awards and achievements, community involvement, and a written essay.
