Founded in 1936 by law enforcement, for law enforcement
In 1936, seven LAPD officers decided that law enforcement professionals deserved a trusted financial partner that understood their work, family life, and financial needs. They created the Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union for their fellow officers.
Over the years, LAPFCU grew beyond LAPD, while staying focused on the law enforcement community. Today we serve federal, state, county, and city law enforcement professionals, civilian employees, retirees, volunteers, and family members in Southern California. We are more than 50,000 members strong and growing.
To enhance the law enforcement community's quality of life by serving as a trusted partner, providing rewarding financial solutions through exceptional service.
Protecting our members’ money and maintaining a strong credit union are our top priorities. LAPFCU provides multiple layers of financial and account protection, including:
At LAPFCU, we know you by name. Our team takes time to answer your questions, understand your needs, and help you find the products and services that fit your life. We’re here to make every step feel easy and personal.
In an independent 2026 survey of credit unions nationwide, LAPFCU ranked in the 95th percentile for members’ likelihood to recommend us to others. This means our members were more likely to recommend us than members of 95% of participating credit unions. It’s a strong reflection of our members’ trust in LAPFCU and the quality of service and support they receive from our associates.
At our Credit Union, associates know you, respect you, and take time to help you.
LAPFCU members elect our Board of Directors. Many board members are active or former law enforcement professionals. Their knowledge and experience support responsible oversight and keep leadership connected to the communities we serve.
Our Board of Directors is 100% member-elected. Many of our board members are current or former law enforcement officers.
